Brendan Rodgers is hopeful Pepe Reina will be fit for Liverpool's trip to Everton after the keeper returned to training on Friday.

Reina has been sidelined after picking up a hamstring injury while on international duty with Spain, and missed Liverpool's 1-0 win over Reading as well as the victory over Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday evening.

Rodgers revealed he would give Reina every chance to prove his fitness and would make a late call ahead of the clash at Goodison Park.

"Pepe is back in training," Rodgers said. "So that's good news. He's working well and we'll assess him over the next 24 to 48 hours."

However, Rodgers admitted that deputy Brad Jones had given him a selection headache after the Australian kept consecutive clean sheets in Reina's absence.

"Brad's been excellent," Rodgers said. "The goalkeepers join in a lot of our work in training. They get involved in a lot of the possession work. Brad's temperament has been excellent. I think he has come in and looked a real presence in the goal.

"The nature of his game has been good and when he has been asked to make a save he has. So I've been really pleased with Brad since he has come in and played a number of our Europa League games and done very well. You need that competition with goalkeepers."
