Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has warned rival clubs not to pursue Spanish striker Michu in the January transfer window, insisting there is "no way" he will leave the club this season.

Michu, 26, has been one of the Premier League's revelations since joining the Swans from Rayo Vallecano in the summer, with 14 goals in 22 appearances.

But his goalscoring form has attracted interest from a number of English and overseas clubs, with Arsenal, Zenit St Petersburg and fellow Russian side Anzhi Makachkala all being linked with his signature.

Laudrup is adamant Swansea will retain their star man, citing Newcastle's loss of Demba Ba to Chelsea as added motivation to fend off any big money offers.

"There is no way he will leave," Laudrup said. "It is absolutely out of the question. One reason is because it is so difficult to get someone in right now, and the second is that he is happy here and doesn't want to leave.

"Newcastle have just lost their top scorer mid-season and that is obviously very bad, especially because it is not easy to find a guy who scores goals like him."
