Villas-Boas takes shot at 'no plans' Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has criticised his former club Chelsea for having no long-term plans.

Villas-Boas was sacked by the Blues just nine months after being appointed by Roman Abramovich, despite much talk about how he would be given time to change the make-up and style of the team.

The Portuguese paid the price for some much-publicised player unrest at Chelsea as Abramovich opted to dismiss him after less than a season in charge, and he has now spoken out about the club in more forthright terms than before.

"There are no plans at Chelsea," Villas-Boas is quoted as saying in The Sun. "It's results that rule. There are times in football when it's easier to replace the coach, but when you embrace a project you believe in people.

"There was a commitment from Abramovich and his word was given, yet there was a premature departure."

That does not look likely to be the case at White Hart Lane, with Villas-Boas beginning to make his mark in England.

"We're achieving what we've been asked to achieve," he added. "We're still in the Europa League and third in the Premier League."
