Redknapp: QPR struggling to attract players

Harry Redknapp has confirmed he is finding it hard to attract players to Queens Park Rangers during the January transfer window.

Rangers signed Loic Remy from Marseille, a player who gave the team a boost by scoring on debut against West Ham, but they have since missed out on French midfielder Yann M'Vila, who opted for a move to Rubin Kazan.

QPR have been linked to a host of other names as Redknapp seeks to boost the squad in order to lift them off the bottom of the Premier League, but he stated that if they cannot bring in the players he wants he will stick with the squad he has.

"Every day has been flights everywhere but it has been very hard to actually land anybody," he said. "It's not easy at this time of year, you think you've got somebody then something happens and you don't get the player and that seems to be how it has gone for the past couple of weeks.

"The clock is ticking down now and it gets tougher. We'll see if we don't get the people I want and that bit of quality then we will sit tight. We got Remy and that was good for us but after that we'll see how we go."

Redknapp also refused to comment on speculation linking QPR with another move for West Brom striker Peter Odemwingie, having already had a bid for the Nigerian turned down.

"It's difficult, he belongs to West Brom so I don't want to talk about that player. It's difficult to talk about him," Redknapp said.

Defender Anton Ferdinand has been linked with a move away from Loftus Road, but Redknapp stressed he cannot take the risk of weakening his playing squad through departures before new faces have arrived.

"I can't let anybody go unless we get some players in," he said. "I can't weaken the squad further. I need to strengthen, not weaken, so I can't think about letting anybody leave unless we get some replacements in.

"That's where we are at the moment if we get some people come in maybe we can let some people go otherwise we have to stick with what we have got."
