Fulham have signed AC Milan's versatile left-sided player Urby Emanuelson on loan until the end of the season.

Emanuelson, 26, is equally comfortable playing at either left full-back or left midfield but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Milan.

Fulham boss Martin Jol has experience of Emanuelson from his time at Ajax - a stint that saw the player make 240 appearances and win the KNVB Beker three times as well as three Dutch Super Cups before moving to AC Milan in January 2011 and winning the Serie A title.

After the Premier League win against West Ham on Wednesday night, Jol said: "He can play left midfield, wide, play No. 10. I feel we need fresh legs. I coached him at Ajax. He is a skilful player, very agile. He is very mobile and quick."

Emanuelson was a member of the Netherlands squad that won the UEFA Under-21 Championship in 2006 and was voted best left-back in the UEFA team of the tournament. He has earned 16 caps for the Dutch senior side since making his debut against Republic of Ireland in 2006.

Emanuelson becomes Fulham's third signing of the window after Emmanuel Frimpong on loan from Arsenal and 19-year-old midfielder Chris David from Twente.

Fulham are also looking to sign Eyong Enoh from Ajax.

Ajax technical director Marc Overmars confirmed the interest in De Telegraaf but said: "The negotiations have yet to begin. There is nothing certain."

Fulham also strengthened their squad on Thursday with the loan signing of Bulgaria international defender Stanislav Manolev from PSV, while Eyong Enoh made it a trio of temporary deals as he completed a switch to Craven Cottage from Ajax with just minutes remaining before the window closed.
