Barcelona celebrate La Liga success

Arsenal are set for a windfall of around £3.5 million courtesy of Barcelona clinching the Spanish title and Hull City winning promotion to the Premier League, according to reports.

The Sun claims that the deals which saw former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas move to the Camp Nou in 2011, and fellow midfielder Alex Song join a year later, included clauses requiring bonus payments once the pair won their first La Liga championship.

The duo, who cost Barca a total of £45 million in transfer fees, claimed the title last weekend, meaning the Gunners are now due the extra payments, despite neither player being regarded as an unqualified success at the Catalan club.

Arsene Wenger's side are also due £500,000 from Hull after striker Jay Simpson helped the Tigers to win automatic promotion back up to the top flight, the Daily Mail reports.

The 24-year-old, who only made three appearances for Arsenal after graduating through the club's youth ranks, moved to the KC Stadium in 2010 following loan spells at Millwall, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers.
