Carlo Ancelotti remains determined to join Real Madrid but insists he will honour his contract at Paris Saint-Germain if a move to the Bernabeu fails to materialise.

It was confirmed last week that Ancelotti wants to leave to take charge of Real Madrid, who are seeking a successor to Jose Mourinho, but PSG sporting director Leonardo told RTL the French champions will "try to make him change his mind".

Ancelotti has said those attempts have failed, but he accepts that there is a possibility he will have to see out the final year of his contract at the Parc des Princes.

"I have not changed my mind," he told the French media at his press conference ahead of the season-concluding trip to Lorient. "Things are as they were last week.

"We must hold discussions with the club to find a good solution, but it is not easy. If we do not find a solution, I will respect my contract. It is not up to me or the club - both parties have to agree. Maybe I'll be the next coach of PSG..."

He was pressed on his reasons for wanted to relocate to Madrid, but remained evasive.

He denied the weather was the cause - "It rained a lot in London, too," the former Chelsea boss noted - and described Leonardo as "a friend". His relationship with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, he stressed, "has been good all year, and my request [to leave] has not poisoned that".

On the subject of those who question his desire to leave Paris, he said that he "respects everyone's opinion" but "to give an opinion, you have to have all the information".

He added: "The reason is personal. It is a personal choice. I have not even discussed it with the players. Paris will remain a great memory. Life goes on - I have to think about my future."
