The 20-year-old is currently impressing for Netherlands at the European Under-21 Championship and the Blues, who have an affiliation with Vitesse, are said to be are battling with Ajax to secure the wanted youngster.

However, a deal has yet to be agreed for the Amersfoort-born player, who still has two years remaining on his current contract.

"Chelsea are interested, we don't deny it," Van Ginkel's agent Karel Jansen told De Telegraaf. "But there are more clubs. Ajax had made official contact with Vitesse, but they don't want to talk with them.

"The situation is that we wait until after the the European Championship and then will look for the best step.
