Manchester United have turned down a bid for Nani from Galatasaray as it did not meet their asking price, the Turkish club have revealed.

The winger struggled to keep his place in United's first team last season - starting just seven Premier League games as the Red Devils won the title - and new manager David Moyes is believed to be ready to let the Portugal international go this summer.

Galatasaray are among a number of clubs reportedly interested in acquiring the services of Nani, who has just a year left on his United contract.

However, the Turkish champions claim that they have now given up their pursuit of the player as they cannot meet United's £8.5 million valuation.

"We offered €7m [£6m] for him. But they didn't accept. We can't give more than this," Galatasaray chairman Unal Aysal said.

"We are not going to follow Nani anymore. We can't give more than €7m for him. They want €10m [£8.5m]. Because of this he is not on our transfer list anymore."
