Press Pass discuss Gareth Bale's future

Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said it would be "crazy" if Real Madrid paid a world record transfer fee to sign Gareth Bale from Spurs in the current economic climate.

Real Madrid adviser Zinedine Zidane has hinted that the Bernabeu club are prepared to offer more than the £80 million they paid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United in 2009, and urged Bale to talk to Spurs if he wants to move.

Fabregas, quoted in AS, said: "For me, spending €100m on Gareth Bale is crazy. I don't know how any club could spend that amount of money in these [economic] circumstances.

"He is a great player with all the right attributes, but we will have to see if Madrid sign him and if he can perform there."

Fabregas went on to reiterate his hope that his future would lie with Barcelona, playing down talk of interest from Manchester United.

"People talk a lot, but the truth is that no one has spoken with me," he said when asked about a possible move to Old Trafford.

"I want to triumph in Barcelona. That club is my home and I always dreamed of playing there, so I will try and succeed there as long as I can."

Fabregas also welcomed the arrival of Brazil international Neymar at Barcelona, but warned: "Neymar will need time to adapt because he is coming from a completely different type of football.

"We need to help him settle in and grow so that he can give us great nights.

"The egos are very controlled in our team. [Lionel] Messi has won the Ballon d'Or four times and is probably the best player of all time - but when you see him every morning, he doesn't seem like it."
