Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out bringing Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to the club.

The Gunners have already made a £30 million bid for Suarez, 26, only to see it rejected by the Reds.

The North London club, though, are reportedly set to return with an improved offer of around £35 million, but Liverpool maintain that they will only listen to offers of £40 million for the Uruguay international.

Although the former Ajax man is currently on holiday following his participation in the Confederations Cup, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers says he is in contact with the striker "nearly every day" in a bid to persuade him to stay at the club.

When asked about a potential deal for Suarez, Wenger, who has just arrived in Indonesia with Arsenal for their pre-season tour, said at a press conference: "Suarez? As you know the transfer period demands secrets and confidentiality, so I can't answer the question."

Wenger did say that the Gunners are pleased to be in Asia and are preparing for four tough games, kicking off with a clash against an Indonesian XI on Sunday.

"I don't know much about the Indonesian team, but I expect them to make us suffer!" he said. "Because Asian players are quick, agile and mobile and we are at the start of the season.

"We are very happy to be here. We've never been here before so we want to give happiness to all our fans here. I'm sure we can leave here with great memories."

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere added: "I have a lot of Twitter followers from Asia. You guys wake up in the middle of night to watch our Champions League games so we want to put on a show for you."
