Ozil's father pursues fake agent claim

Mesut Ozil's father has filed a charge against an agent who allegedly falsely claimed to represent the player during transfer talks with Manchester United, Express reports.

Ozil, 24, became the most expensive German player ever when making the €50 million switch from Real Madrid to Arsenal on the last day of the transfer window.

Now, Mustafa, Mesut's father and agent, has filed a charge against the unknown agent, who allegedly forged his signature on a document, which enabled transfer talks with Manchester United to begin. The document dated August 7 2013, was leaked to Ozil Sr, who will press charges.

"I would have never deemed it possible what some dodgy people venture to do," Ozil Sr said. "Someone wanted to make contact with Manchester in my name and even signed with my name. That is no trivial offence. We will get to the bottom of it.."

Following the transfer to Arsenal, the agent Francois Gallardo had claimed that Ozil Sr had shopped his son around most of the European top teams.

However, Ozil Sr firmly denied this claim, saying: "As you can see, that's wrong. You don't need to offer a player of Mesut's class to any club in the world."

United also missed out in their pursuit of Thiago Alcantara who joined Bayern Munich and Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas while Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera was also the subject of a bid from Manchester United but claimed he never spoke to the club.
