Januzaj grew up idolising Albanian legend Cana
Adnan Januzaj's closest friend and former team-mate Jonathan Kindermans is urging the Manchester United winger to follow his heart when he chooses which country he represents at international level.
Januzaj, 18, was born in Belgium to Albanian parents, and could be eligible to play for England when he turns 23 - with the FA and the player's father maintaining this is still a possibility.
But with the youngster keeping quiet about allegiances, it's left everyone else guessing.
And Kindermans, who played with Januzaj at Anderlecht, thinks he knows who his friend will choose, claiming he grew up idolising Lorik Cana - the first Albanian to play in the Premier League.
"We used to talk about the national teams," Kindermans told the Daily Mail.
"He was always talking about Cana. I would say, 'but we [Belgium] have Kompany and Fellaini', and he would say, "yes, but Belgium are bad" - we weren't doing well at the time.
"The Albanian fans knew him from when he was 15 and now he scores two goals and the Belgium fans are suddenly taking notice.
"He could make history with Albania, lead them to a tournament, and they would talk about him in 50 years.
"Or with Belgium, he would pick them if he wants to be at big tournaments but he's one of many great players in Belgium."
When asked if he thinks Januzaj would choose to represent England, Kindermans added: "No, I don't think he would play for them."
