Language the key to Aguero partnership - Negredo

Alvaro Negredo believes his natural understanding with Sergio Aguero explains why their partnership has proved so prolific.

The two strikers have scored 15 goals in the last six matches they have started together for Manchester City and Negredo feels it helps that they speak the same language.

The Spaniard, a summer signing from Sevilla, scored his first City hat trick in Tuesday's 5-2 win over CSKA Moscow in Champions League, while Aguero scored the other two goals.

The Argentine has nine goals in his last six games while Negredo has scored five in three and he told the Manchester Evening News: "It's been very good from the first day, and especially with both us speaking Spanish. We understand each other well.

"He's a great player and it's easy to get along with great players. From the first moment we did well together and with him, Edin Dzeko and myself, when we play, we understand one another."

"I'm happy to score goals. For a striker it's a big part of the game, I am delighted to get three so quickly in a team like this and let's hope I can get a lot more - that would be a good sign for everybody."

Negredo also believes his team-mates deserve much of the credit for his goalscoring run.

He added: "It's down to the type of players we've got, who have a lot of movement and movement does a lot, it unsettles the other team. We're doing it well and thanks to this are getting a lot of goals."

Victory against CSKA ensured City will progress to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time and Negredo believes their ambitions extend beyond that.

He said: "A big club like this has to aim high. The team failed in the last two seasons [in the Champions League]. We didn't want the same again, the manager wanted to do well and thanks to the team's efforts, and the coach's work we're doing well and have qualified two games ahead of schedule."
