Silva ruled out for up to four weeks

Manchester City playmaker David Silva is facing up to four weeks out with a calf injury.

Silva played 66 minutes of City's 5-2 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night.

But manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Silva will miss Sunday's Premier League trip to Sunderland, and is unlikely to return until next month.

"His problem is his calf. I don't know exactly how many weeks it will be, but maybe three or four weeks," Pellegrini said.

Pellegrini will also be without captain Vincent Kompany at the Stadium of Light, as the captain continues to recover from his own calf injury.

Kompany has not played since the 3-1 Premier League win over Everton on Octover 5, but the manager is hopeful he will be back in a fortnight.

"Kompany was ruled out for five weeks when he was diagnosed," Pellegrini said. "He's in his third week, so he needs two weeks more. We hope his recovery will continue in the same way and he will not have any problem."
