Ferdinand faces two weeks out
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand could be out of action for two weeks after suffering a knee injury in the 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Swansea, Press Association Sport has reported.
Ferdinand, 35, had been making his first appearance since December when he was forced off after 76 minutes of the third-round contest at Old Trafford.
It had initially been feared that Ferdinand could face a longer lay-off, but it is understood that scans revealed heavy bruising rather than ligament damage.
If Ferdinand is ruled out for between 10 and 14 days, he would be a doubt for the Premier League trip to Chelsea on January 19 but would potentially return for the Capital One Cup semi-final second leg against Sunderland three days later.
