United right the ship

Manchester United have been alerted to the availability of Valencia midfielder Ever Banega, according to a report in the Sunday People.

Banega is thought to have asked to leave the La Liga club, which ultimately could change David Moyes' plans in the January transfer window.

With much of the British press speculating Moyes may wait until the summer to begin an Old Trafford clearout - which could see the likes of Nani and Anderson shipped out to make way for fresh personnel - Banega's apparent situation may force the United manager's hand as he looks to bolster his squad.

The Argentinian has attracted interest from several clubs around Europe, including Serie A giants AC Milan and Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports United are closely monitoring the development of the son of former striker Henrik Larsson.

Jordan Larsson, 16, plays for Hogaborgs BK in the Swedish fourth tier, but has trained with his father's old side Helsingborgs. In 2007, Larsson Sr spent two-and-a-half months at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, scoring three goals for the club.
