ESPN FC: Ronaldo didn't deserve Ballon d'Or

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil is the only current Premier League player to feature in the UEFA.com team of the year, but Barcelona's Lionel Messi has not been named in the side.

Messi lost his FIFA Ballon d'Or award to Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday, and now he has failed to make the 11 players for UEFA.com.

Real Madrid's Gareth Bale is in the team, with Ronaldo named for an eighth time, and for a record seventh year in a row. No English players were selected.

UEFA.com team of the year: Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich); Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Thiago Silva (Paris Saint-Germain), Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich), David Alaba (Bayern Munich); Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich), Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund) Mesut Ozil (Arsenal and Germany), Gareth Bale (Real Madrid); Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain).
