West Ham tie up Cole for further 18 months

West Ham United have confirmed that striker Carlton Cole has agreed a new 18-month contract with the club.

Cole, 30, first joined the Hammers in 2006 before being released last summer.

He rejoined the club in October during an injury crisis that left Sam Allardyce without a fit first-team striker and notched four goals in 11 games, taking his tally to 63 goals in 251 games.

The forward, who has played seven times for England, initially penned a short-term deal, but has now been rewarded with fresh terms for 18 months after displaying his scoring touch over the past few months.

A favourite among Hammers fans, Cole scored began his West Ham career by scoring a debut goal with his first touch in a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic in 2006.
