Gerrard warns reporters to drop questions about Liverpool

Steven Gerrard has reiterated his decision to cull all Liverpool talk until after the World Cup, and he warned reporters not to ask him about the Anfield club again.
The England captain spoke at a press conference on Thursday morning, just two days before England's opening World Cup clash with USA. Gerrard admitted it was becoming increasingly frustrating waiting for Saturday to come around, but he backed Wayne Rooney and the rest of his team-mates to keep their tempers in check when kick-off finally arrives.
Back home, Gerrard will have witnessed the removal of Rafael Benitez from the Liverpool hotseat, with Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson now the favourites to take over.
Gerrard's own future is in doubt though as Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid become increasingly linked with the dynamic midfielder, and he did little to silence the link by evading the topic on Thursday.
"I said on record over in Austria a couple of weeks back that I wouldn't be speaking about matters of Liverpool Football Club," stated Gerrard.
"That remains the same today so I'd like all the guys to show me a bit of respect.
"We're two days away from a massive important game for my country; I'm going to be leading the boys out, so that's where my focus is now."
