Chelsea plan coaching role for Terry

John Terry will be offered a coaching role in his next contract with Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

Terry's current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and his future remains unclear, given his desire to secure a two-year deal with the option of a one-year extension

Chelsea have a club-wide policy of only offering players over 30 one-year extensions on their existing deals, a policy that played a key role in Didier Drogba's departure in 2012.

Jose Mourinho indicated he agreed with the policy last week, but Chelsea hope Terry, 33, can be enticed to take a shroter deal with the offer of a role within the club's academy.

But while Terry is currently taking his Uefa B licence and has made no secret of his desire to move into management in the future, his immediate focus is on prolonging his playing career.

The central defender has recaptured some of hsi best form since Mourinho's return, prompting calls for his reinstatement to the England squad ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
