Bayern's Thiago to miss United clash

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara is out of Tuesday's Champions League clash against Manchester United after partially tearing a ligament in his right knee on Saturday.
Thiago - whom United tried to sign last summer from Barcelona before he opted to join Bayern - will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, the German champions have confirmed.
The Spaniard suffered an extended partial ligament tear in his right knee in the first half of Bayern's 3-3 draw at home with Hoffenheim.
An MRI scan late Saturday by team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt confirmed the extent of the injury.
"It's bad news. We're going to miss him a lot," said Bayern manager Pep Guardiola.
Thiago would also be ruled out of the Champions League semi-finals should Bayern progress.
"It's very bitter and comes at a catastrophic time, just before the important games," teammate Thomas Mueller told Bayern's website.
