Buttner 'ready' for rampaging Robben

Alex Buttner admits it will be a "tough" task to mark Arjen Robben during Manchester United's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Buttner is expected to replace the suspended Patrice Evra at left-back for the Old Trafford clash and, having only started eight games under new United manager David Moyes, the 25-year-old admits he lacks experience of such big games.

"It's going to be a tough day," Buttner, who long-term prospects at Old Trafford are not the brightest, said. "This will be one of the biggest games I've ever played.

"I feel confident. I know what Arjen Robben can do and I am ready for him. This kind of game is why you play football. It is a chance for me to show what I can do. He's a good player."

Amid claims of diving and spitting, Robben tormented Arsenal during his last outing on English soil and was instrumental in Bayern's 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium in February.

United have suffered a miserable start to Moyes' tenure and, despite Bayern's 19-game winning streak being ended by Hoffenheim on Saturday, Robben insists their style gives opponents little chance.

"Guardiola has turned us into the most dominant team in Europe," he said. "We are more dominant than we have been. Our playing style is even more attacking than last year.

"This manager is tactically so strong. We don't let our opponents come up for air. That is the Bayern of Guardiola.

"We go there with a lot of confidence - but there is no free ticket. It would be a mistake to say we can do it easily. It will be difficult - league form doesn't always translate to Europe."

Bayern travel to Manchester without midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who partially tore a right knee ligament during Saturday's draw at the Allianz Arena.
