ESPN FC: Can PSG hang on without Ibrahimovic?

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is considering risking Samuel Eto'o in a bid to pull off a "special" comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The striker was not fit enough to make a cameo appearance in Saturday's 3-0 Premier League win against Stoke because of a hamstring injury he picked up against Arsenal last month, but on Monday trained with the squad.

And with Fernando Torres left out of the Chelsea line-up for the PSG quarter-final first leg in Paris last week, Mourinho would like Eto'o back with a 3-1 deficit to overturn.

'You're sons of bitches'

  • Jose Mourinho was once so angry at his Real Madrid players that he called them "sons of bitches" in an astonishing post-match rant.
  • An extract of a new book, The Special One: The Dark Side of Jose Mourinho by Diego Torres, being serialised by The Times, reveals that Mourinho felt betrayed after his starting line-up for a La Liga match with Barcelona was leaked to the media shortly before kick-off.
  • The book reveals Mourinho waited for the players in the dressing room after the 1-1 draw before launching into a tearful tirade.
  • "You're traitors," he screamed "I asked you not to speak with anyone about the team selection but you've betrayed me. It shows that you're not on my side. You're sons of bitches.
  • "You've left me all on my own. You're the most treacherous squad I've had in my life. Nothing more than sons of bitches."

"Maybe I will pick him," Mourinho said, when asked about Eto'o's possible return.

"To risk a player you need to have minimum conditions. If you think he's going to be out after 10 minutes of the game you can't take that risk.

"If there is a minimum of conditions of risk, then, yes, I will pick him. We need to score goals. If we don't score a minimum of two goals, we are out. We know that. If we can have everybody available who can give us a chance to score goals, then let's do that.

"I wanted Eto'o to be on the bench on Saturday [against Stoke] and play 15 or 20 minutes but he was not fit enough. He did not train with the team on Sunday, so we have to see."

Mourinho promised the Champions League clash against PSG at Stamford Bridge will be a "special" night, claiming the tension normally associated with such a high profile game will be missing for him.

"Losing 3-1 there means I am not nervous," he said. "I want to enjoy the game, I want to enjoy the fight, I want to enjoy the risk. I want to enjoy that.

"So, no, no nerves. We have to enjoy the 90 minutes. After the 90 minutes, maybe the 120 minutes, if we lose, we don't enjoy it, but the 90 minutes, you enjoy.

"Special it will be, for sure."
