Tim Sherwood has told Sandro he isn't good enough to merit a place in Tottenham's squad on current form after the midfielder appeared to criticise his manager for leaving him out of the 3-1 win over Fulham.

Prior to Spurs' victory at White Hart Lane, Sandro seemed to take a swipe at Sherwood on Twitter by revealing he had been left out of the squad but wasn't injured.

But in his post-match interview, Sherwood told BT Sport: "He's [Sandro] not selected, I don't think he's good enough to be in the side at the moment.

"When he shows me that he is and he's at a level with the other players then he can get back in the squad. But at the moment he's not at the level to be in the squad."

Asked whether Sherwood was frustrated that Sandro apparently decided to air his grievance in public, Sherwood replied: "I don't know, he's got his own reasons for doing it.

"He's got a good following. The fans like him here. I like Sandro, I like him as a player, but at the end of the day he has to work hard to get back in the side."

"I only pick players based on who can win the game, and at the moment, he's not good enough to be in the squad so he's left out."

Following Sherwood's comments, Sandro - who hasn't featured since the 2-2 draw at Benfica that saw Spurs exit the Europa League - then posted on Twitter again:
