Romelu Lukaku's agent has said it is "still too soon" to say whether the Belgian striker will return to Chelsea in the summer.

Lukaku, 20, has made just 10 Premier League appearances for Chelsea since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2011. Loaned out to West Bromwich Albion for the 2012/13 campaign, the former Anderlecht striker has spent nearly the whole of the current season at Everton.

He has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract, but with Jose Mourinho having already publicly declared his desire to draft in reinforcements in attack during the coming transfer window, the young forward's representative, Christophe Henrotay, told footmercato.net the future remains uncertain.

Henrotay said: "For the moment, Romelu belongs to Chelsea. He has two years left on his contract. It's going to depend on Chelsea. After that, we'll see together what the best options are if Chelsea decide to let him go.

"That they want to bring in a big-name striker has been well-documented. But Chelsea need lots of great strikers. And if there are too many, they'll choose to allow Romelu to leave. But if they think there aren't enough forwards, perhaps Romelu will say, 'I'm interested in prolonging the adventure.' But it's still too soon."

Lukaku's situation is being monitored by a number of clubs in the Premier League and abroad. Tottenham have been linked to a signing bid and Everton manager Roberto Martinez says he is prepared to wait until after the World Cup to pursue a transfer.
