Dzeko rejects City exit talk

Edin Dzeko shrugged off speculation about his future to downplay talk he will leave Manchester City this season.

The Bosnian striker was linked with Chelsea, who are trying to sign a centre-forward, after Jose Mourinho said he ought to have been named Footballer of the Year.

But Dzeko, a 2011 signing from Wolfsburg, said he is accustomed to seeing stories suggesting he will leave the Etihad Stadium.

The forward had seemed unhappy 12 months ago at the end of Roberto Mancini's reign, but he has enjoyed a closer relationship with Manuel Pellegrini and scored 26 goals to help City win the Capital One Cup and the Premier League.

And Dzeko told City's official website: "For the last three years the people were talking and talking and I am still here."

The 28-year-old scored five goals in the last four games of the season as City won all to overhaul Liverpool at the top of the table.

And midfielder Yaya Toure, another of the four City players to reach 20 goals, said: "Next year we want to do better than this year.

"I am very proud and very happy. This was an amazing season. Everyone working for the club deserves this season. I think the team was unbelievable. All the team are doing really well."
