Inter tempted by unsettled Lamela
Inter Milan could be interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela, according to club president Erik Thohir.
Thohir revealed that Inter, who will play in the Europa League next season after finishing fifth in Serie A, expect to make their first summer signing in the next few weeks.
They have been strongly linked with a move for Blackpool's out-of-contract winger Thomas Ince, who spent the second half of last season on loan in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.
Ince would be available for a nominal compensation fee and he has already spoken of his despire to follow in his father Paul's footsteps to the San Siro.
While Thohir did not confirm any interest in the 22-year-old Ince, he did say Inter could move for either Lamela or Wolfsburg's 26-year-old midfielder Luiz Gustavo.
Lamela, 22, moved to White Hart Lane last summer from AS Roma in a deal worth up to £30 million. However, he only started three Premier League games, with six appearances from the bench and contributed only one assist and no goals. He missed most of the second half of the season through injury.
Inter, who have already signed veteran Nemanja Vidic on a free transfer from Manchester United, could now make another signing from England.
"[Inter boss Walter] Mazzarri likes Lamela and Luiz Gustavo, but everything will depend on the situation of the market," Thohir told Gazzetta dello Sport. "In about two weeks we hope to be able announce a new player.
"Mazzarri believes in our plan and we must sit around a table to talk about his renewal [of contract]. I want the coach to work mostly with young players, the [average] age of players must be around 26-and-a-half years old. Football now is different to 15 years ago."
