Southampton are said to be ready to take their time in weighing up Liverpool's improved £25 million bid for captain Adam Lallana, despite reports suggesting it will be the Premier League club's final offer.

Southampton rejected a £20m for Lallana earlier in May, with the club valuing the player at around £30m, and are in no rush to make a final decision with the World Cup - and the potential extra interest in players it can bring - looming, according to the Southampton Daily Echo.

Lallana played 73 minutes in England's 3-0 victory over Peru at Wembley on Friday, the country's final pre-World Cup match on home soil. Liverpool were reportedly keen to tie up a deal before England fly out to the World Cup next week.

Tottenham have also been strongly linked with Lallana as they hope the arrival of former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino will convince him to team up with the Argentinian once again.

Southampton are holding out for £30m as they must pay 25% of any transfer fee they receive for Lallana to his former club Bournemouth.
