Carlos Tevez believes Juventus must keep Arturo Vidal out of the clutches of his former club Manchester United at all costs this summer.

Louis van Gaal is reportedly keen on making Vidal his third signing at United but Tevez, who left Old Trafford after two years for bitter rivals Manchester City in 2010, is hoping the "phenomenal" midfielder stays in Turin.

"Vidal's phenomenal and a real champion," Tevez said. "I hope he stays here because we can't afford to let our champions leave."

Tevez has also welcomed the arrival of his former team-mate Patrice Evra at Juventus, with the left-back ending his eight-and-a-half year stay at United earlier this week.

"I'm delighted with Evra's arrival - he's a great friend of mine," Tevez added. "Let's now wait and see when we have our full squad what objectives we can set ourselves this season in Serie A and the Champions League."
