Roy Keane says Jose Mourinho would be "knocked out" if he tried to shake hands before the final whistle in Sunday league football.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert refused to accept Portuguese's gesture as he prepared to head down the tunnel before the end of his side's 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last month, and his assistant Keane's reaction was even more withering.

An angry man

  • After Roy Keane's book went on sale, 16 of his top targets have been revealed to include Sir Alex Ferguson, Peter Schmeichel and Manchester City's players. Even Paul Scholes doesn't go unscathed as ESPN identifies what and who 'Keano' is angry about.

"I've seen him doing it to other managers, it is a disgrace. The game is still going on. You wouldn't do that on a Sunday morning, you would get knocked out."

Lambert pointed to his watch when Mourinho made his move towards the Villa bench and, asked if he thought it was disrespectful, Keane said: "What do you think? That's a stupid question. Yeah."

Keane, speaking at the official launch of his book The Second Half, added: "I'm not sure I'd have liked playing for Mourinho. He plays too many mind games with the media.

"I understand the need for games. But there comes a point when you think, 'Don't play mind games today'."
