Injured Harbinger ruled out for the season

Brilliant King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes winner Harbinger has picked up an injury and will not race again this season.
Harbinger backed up his Royal Ascot victory with a demolition job in the King George, with Sir Michael Stoute's charge producing arguably the finest performance in a Group One this season.
The four-year-old had been slated to run in the International Stakes at York later in the month, but all plans have been shelved after Harbinger fractured his near-fore cannon bone on the gallops.
Harbinger had been working over seven furlongs on the Limekilns gallops with stablemate Ask when he suffered an injury. There has been no word as to whether Harbinger will race again, but he will not run at York and will also miss the Arc.
"This is a bitter blow for all 12 of Harbinger's (syndicate) owners and indeed all who are closely connected with the horse, as well as his many fans to whom he has become an icon following his amazing King George victory," said Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.
Speaking on www.highclereracing.co.uk, he added: "A decision as to Harbinger's future will be taken imminently."
