Landon Donovan has revealed he will decide on a possible return to the English Premier League "in the next few weeks".

Donovan's comments are likely to alert the Everton management team, who set up an extremely successful loan spell with the USA international last season. The Toffees benefited from 13 appearances by the LA Galaxy star, and he was raised onto his team-mates' shoulders when he scored on his final home appearance.

Everton have struggled for goals this season, scoring 14 in 13 league matches, and Donovan is one of few high calibre options open to the cash-strapped club. However, the player will enjoy a small break from the game in order to reflect on a season that saw USA reach the second round of the World Cup.

"Give me a few weeks and I will have an answer for you," Donovan told Sky Sports News. "Right now I'm four days into my vacation and I'm going to enjoy it. I'm going to chill and then in a few weeks I will make a decision.

"Both personally and professionally I would have to say it's been the best year of my life. This time of year, I guess, is the time to reflect on it and realise how special this was."
