Jermain Defoe has been named in Tottenham's squad to face Arsenal after two months out with an ankle injury.

The England striker has not played for Spurs since August but handed manager Harry Redknapp a timely boost ahead of the North London derby when he returned to full training ahead of schedule.

Defoe was initially ruled out for three months after suffering ankle ligament damage during England's Euro 2012 qualifying victory over Switzerland in September.

"Jermain Defoe has trained all week and will be in the squad tomorrow," Redknapp said. "It's great to have him back.

"Obviously the other lads have all done well in his absence, we scored four goals last week against Blackburn. [Roman] Pavlyuchenko and [Peter] Crouch were outstanding but it's great to have the little fella back. He's a fantastic goalscorer and he's different to anybody else, He's sharp, great movement, great finisher."
