AC Milan have ruled out a move for Carlos Tevez, with the Italian giants insisting they could not afford to fund a bid for the striker.

Tevez looks to have little future at Manchester City after maintaining he wants to leave despite the club rejecting his written transfer request. Milan are seeking attacking reinforcements following an injury to veteran predator Filippo Inzaghi, but Tevez would appear to be out of reach despite the club expressing admiration for the Argentine.

"Tevez is great but Milan can't make an investment like that," Milan's chief executive Adriano Galliani said. "If we find a forward who looks like a Milan player we will take him, otherwise we'll stay like this."

Tevez's City team-mate Mario Balotelli is also on Milan's radar but Galliani admitted a bid for the former Inter man is unlikely to happen.

"If we have the possibility to sign a player to bolster the team, we'll get him, otherwise we'll remain as we are," Galliani said. "Unfortunately, the season is over for Inzaghi, even if he could be back for the last couple of matches, but I don't want to go any further, in the end I'm not a doctor. Pato, on the other hand, is expected to be available for selection by January 6, therefore I'd say we don't have serious problems in attack."
