Tevez set for showdown talks with City

Want-away Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has returned to the club's Carrington training ground after having his transfer request rejected and will have showdown talks with manager Roberto Mancini on Friday.
Tevez has not travelled to Turin with the squad ahead of Thursday's Europa League match against Juventus, although Mancini apparently made that decision before the weekend, knowing the game was a dead rubber.
An insider close to club revealed: ''None of the big players have been assigned to the Turin game. Mancini has already left, but there will be a showdown with Tevez on Friday when he comes back.
''It's a time for cool heads and one would expect cool heads to prevail. Mancini and Tevez will talk about the issues and we will wait and see what the reaction is.''
With Tevez suspended for last Saturday's match against West Ham United the unsettled Argentina international was granted leave by Mancini to spend some time with his family. However, the striker headed to Tenerife and then handed in a written transfer request, claiming his relationship with "certain executives and individuals" at the club had "broken down beyond repair".
The striker later released a statement claiming he would be committed to the Manchester City cause if his plea was rejected and has returned to training as scheduled, although the transfer request has not been withdrawn.
Mancini is currently back in Italy for a minor operation and his first thoughts on the Tevez situation will come on Wednesday when the Italian hosts a press conference in Turin.
Tevez is one of a number of senior players to be rested, although Mancini has already indicated that former Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli will travel, even though he was racially abused by some Juventus fans last season.
City do not have a Premier League match until next Monday when they face Everton at Eastlands.
