Tevez angered by City's 'broken promises'

Carlos Tevez's falling out with Manchester City is down to "broken promises" not related to money, but he will not force a transfer by going on strike according to the striker's representative Kia Joorabchian.

Joorabchian placed the blame for the rift with Garry Cook, City's chief executive, saying he had failed to live up to his end of an agreement with Tevez that had been negotiated when the club was looking to hang on to the unsettled striker in the summer.

"Garry Cook thinks he is bigger than Tevez," Joorabchian told the Times. "He is trying to make this an issue between him and me when it should be nothing of the sort. He might feel that he is a very important person but he isn't. Me and him aren't important enough. It's about Carlos and his relationship with the club.

"They made him some promises, he made them some promises," Joorabchian said. "In his view they didn't keep theirs and he kept his. City know those issues weren't about money."

Tevez is back training with City after taking a four-day break but he hasn't yet met with manager Roberto Mancini, who has already travelled to Italy ahead of City's Europa League match against Juventus, which Tevez won't be called up for. Mancini and Tevez are set for talks on Friday, when it should become clear whether the Argentine will be able to resolve his issues with the club and retract his transfer request.

Whether it's for the short or long term, Joorabchian insisted Tevez will continue to give his all for City when selected.

He told the Daily Telegraph: "I want to be clear that Carlos has never said he is not going to play, train or be professional. He will play if picked and 100% do his best. The club and Carlos have to try and find an amicable solution here. Everyone is being hurt by this right now."
