Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has confirmed he will not allow Gareth Bale to leave White Hart Lane, insisting Spurs are not a selling club.

Bale has earned rave reviews this season, scoring 10 goals for club and country as Spurs have maintained a challenge at the top of the Premier League table. The Wales international has also transferred his excellent domestic form onto the European stage, scoring a hat-trick against Inter Milan at the San Siro in October.

Manager Harry Redknapp previously stated his desire to keep Bale, although he confessed the final decision would take place above his head with Manchester City reported to be ready to offer £60 million. However, for the first time, Levy has confirmed he will not allow Bale to leave.

Levy told the club's AGM: "I've never deemed us to be a selling club, if you look at the big transfers which have taken place since I've been chairman.

"Both [Dimitar] Berbatov and Michael Carrick had two years left on their contract, both players wanted to go and that was the reason they were sold.

"But in the case of Gareth he's got a long contract and I can assure you he will not be sold."
