Rovers confirm Larsson bid

Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean has confirmed the club have made an offer for Birmingham City midfielder Sebastian Larsson and are in talks with Newell's Old Boys forward Mauro Formica.
The Swede has less than six months to run on his present commitment at St Andrew's and has spurned all offers to stay. Blues are reluctantly considering bids for Larsson and he has been the subject of interest from North East rivals Sunderland and Newcastle.
Larsson is keeping his options open and it would appear he could have an offer from Rovers to consider after Kean confirmed a bid had been tabled - one he does admit may not be enough.
"We have made a bid for Seb Larsson and we thought it would be enough and again maybe we will have to wait for the summer again," Kean said.
Rovers have been linked with a host of huge names in January, having failed with bids for Ronaldinho and David Beckham, and Argentina playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme can now be added to the list.
"Riquelme is on a list with a number of other players but we will wait for the summer for the big signing," Kean said.
The club are making use of their South American contacts as Newell's Old Boys forward Formica is in talks with the club.
Kean said: "Mauro Formica is someone we would like to bring in this window and talks are ongoing."
