Carlo Ancelotti has refused to comment on Chelsea's bid for Fernando Torres, claiming it would not be right for him to discuss another club's player.

Liverpool confirmed on Thursday evening that Chelsea had made a shock bid for Torres, an offer that was swiftly rejected by the Anfield side.

There has been no comment on the bid from Chelsea and Ancelotti was not prepared to offer his opinion on the news.

"I know what my club is doing now," Ancelotti said. "I have always said I only speak about my players and in this moment Torres is not my player. I don't want to speak about this and I don't want to say what my club is doing in this moment, the same goes for [Benfica defender] David Luiz."

When asked to comment on reports that Torres is ready to make the move, Ancelotti said: "I don't want to speak about this, you will have to speak to my club. He is not my player and I have to respect Liverpool."

Didier Drogba hit form against Bolton on Monday and it remains to be seen if he will have a new strike partner for the remainder of the season.

"The club is trying to do everything to improve the squad," he said. "For tomorrow we do not need more strikers, but maybe in the future I don't know."
