Liverpool miss out on Adam

Liverpool have missed out on the capture of Blackpool man Charlie Adam.
The Reds have held an interest in Adam for the whole of the transfer window, having had bids knocked back by Blackpool.
The Seasiders have stated they would be prepared to sell Adam provided their valuation was matched and it was claimed late in the afternoon on deadline day that the clubs had started talking once again. It was suggested that Adam was poised to open talks with the Reds, but this has not happened and Adam is to stay at Bloomfield Road.
Reports suggest Adam and his agent held talks with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston on Monday evening, but they came away without getting the green light to speak to Liverpool.
This will come as a relief to Blackpool boss Ian Holloway as Adam has been an inspirational figure for the team this season.
It is also being claimed Tottenham made a last-ditch bid to land Adam, but they too failed to persuade Blackpool to sell.
Blackpool have confirmed the capture of Sergei Kornilenko from Zenit St Petersburg, subject to a work permit, and have also signed Jason Puncheon on loan from Southampton.
