Dalglish the perfect choice - Henry

Liverpool owner John W Henry has given the clearest indication yet that Kenny Dalglish will be offered the manager's job on a permanent basis.

Dalglish, a Kop idol after winning titles as both a player and a manager in his first spell with the club, stepped into the breach on a temporary basis after the dismissal of former manager Roy Hodgson at the beginning of January.

After a slow start the Scot has overseen something of a revival for the Anfield club, and Henry believes the appointment has already proven to be the right one.

"It's still early, but in retrospect you could not have made, in our case it was very fortunate for us, but we could not have made a better choice," Henry told Fox Soccer Channel. "I know he, for a long time now, has wanted to be in this position, so it's a great thing for the club, for Kenny and for us."

The Reds have won their last three games under Dalglish, bringing his overall record in his second stint to three wins, one draw and two defeats from his first six games. And those within the game already believe the permanent job is his for the taking, as long as results until the end of the season remain up to scratch.

"If he does well, and he will, then there's no way on earth Dalglish will not get the job on a permanent basis," Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp noted in his column for The Sun. "There would be uproar - from the fans and the footballers."
