West Ham duo Robert Green and Carlton Cole have been drafted into the England squad to face Denmark on Wednesday.

Fabio Capello has called on the pair to bolster his squad following the withdrawals of Steven Gerrard, Ben Foster, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Peter Crouch.

Gerrard suffered a groin strain during Liverpool's 1-0 win at Chelsea, while Crouch and Foster were released following fitness tests at England's headquarters in Watford. Agbonlahor failed to report for duty for personal reasons.

With captain Rio Ferdinand suffering a calf injury on Saturday, Capello will be without both his captain and vice-captain for the trip to Copenhagen, ahead of the Three Lions' Euro 2012 qualifier in Wales next month.

Frank Lampard is expected to be named as captain for the first time, with the Chelsea midfielder set to lead a young squad featuring Arsenal duo Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott.
