Arsenal duo Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie have pulled out of their respective international squads with illness.

Gunners skipper Fabregas has been ruled out of Spain's friendly against Colombia with a stomach bug, while Van Persie is suffering with flu and will not travel to Eindhoven for Netherlands' friendly against Austria.

Both featured in Arsenal's 4-4 draw at Newcastle on Saturday, but have been deemed unfit for international duty. Fabregas did not travel to Madrid, while Van Persie has been replaced in the Netherlands squad by FC Twente's Luuk de Jong.

Kieran Gibbs has also dropped out of England's Under-21 squad with a minor injury.
