Rooney reveals half-time rocket
Wayne Rooney has revealed he gave his Manchester United team-mates the hairdryer treatment at half-time of their Champions League win at AC Milan.
The Red Devils threw in a below-par opening 45 minutes, with their efforts littered with misplaced passes, and were fortunate to go in level at the break thanks to Paul Scholes' fortuitous strike.
Rooney inspired United to their first away win at Milan with two second-half goals, but the England man was not happy with the efforts of some of his team-mates.
"I was very frustrated in the first-half with a lot of things," Rooney said. "Some people were not doing their jobs properly and I let my feelings be known. We learnt from that and won the game which I am delighted about."
Sir Alex Ferguson was in awe of Rooney's display, as he said: ""He could break 30. This season in particular, over the last two months, there has been a marked improvement in his game.
"Confidence has a lot to do with it of course. I just felt he had to improve his goalscoring, which is what he is doing now.
"His overall performance was absolutely devastating. Milan couldn't handle him. They just couldn't handle him. He has to be regarded at the highest level, along with all the other players we know about."
