UEFA has handed Tottenham assistant manager Joe Jordan a one-match ban following his confrontation with Gennaro Gattuso at AC Milan.

Gattuso was given a four-match ban after he headbutted Jordan during Spurs' 1-0 victory at the San Siro, and the midfielder's agent claimed afterwards that he was called a "f*****g Italian b*****d" by the coach. Jordan said the claim was "completely and utterly untrue".

He has been handed a suspension for his part in the spat, though, and will not be allowed to communicate with the team during Spurs' quarter-final first leg. He will not be permitted to go into Spurs' dressing-room, into the tunnel or the technical zone, or onto the pitch.

A UEFA statement read: "The control and disciplinary body has [...] imposed a one-match ban on the Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Joe Jordan following incidents that took place at the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg against AC Milan in Italy on February 15.

"The punishment applies to Tottenham's next game in the competition - the English club's quarter-final first leg on 5/6 April [...] An appeal can be made."
