Wolves winger Matt Jarvis is determined to prove he is worthy of his England call with starring displays in training.

Jarvis was the surprise name in Fabio Capello's squad when the Italian named his 26 players for the Euro 2012 qualifier with Wales and friendly with Ghana.

The winger, who scored Wolves' winner against Aston Villa at the weekend, faces a battle to earn a start ahead of the likes of Aaron Lennon and Ashley Young - but he will not leave anything behind in training.

"It's great for me and I'm delighted but having been named in the squad it will be a case of meeting up and aiming to impress," Jarvis said. "I've just got to concentrate on doing as well as I can in training and seeing if I can impress to get some time on the pitch if I can."

Should Jarvis be left kicking his heels on the bench, he will take the positives from his first international call-up.

"Whatever happens with the matches I'm sure it will be a great experience to be training with the squad and with a coach like Fabio Capello," he told Wolves' official website. "Training will be that little bit different I am sure and it will be a big benefit to me to be there alongside such top players."
