Harry Redknapp admits Tottenham "desperately" need a victory to keep their hopes of a Champions League spot alive.

Redknapp, who celebrates his 100th league game as Spurs boss in the North London derby against arch-rivals Arsenal on Wednesday evening, believes qualification for Europe's top competition will only get harder.

Spurs are three points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City, albeit with a game in hand, and with just seven games remaining, Redknapp admits their chances are in the balance.

"We need victory as much as Arsenal do. We want to finish in the top four," Redknapp said. "We need a win desperately. We've got to win most of our games if we are going to do it."

Redknapp believes City's victory over rivals Manchester United on Saturday is a sign of things to come and expects Liverpool to be challenging for Champions League football again next season.

"I think it's going to be harder [next season], Redknapp said. "It's only a matter of time before Man City win a championship, that's for sure. If they keep buying top players they are going to win the Premier League sooner or later. You saw the strength of them at Wembley.

"I think Liverpool will be up there again. I think next year will be harder than this year and this year was harder than the year before."
