Wenger urges Gunners to play without fear
Arsene Wenger has called on his side to show no fear when they make the short trip to White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening.
Arsenal go into the North London derby buoyed by Manchester United's failure to win at Newcastle United. If the Gunners come out on top against their arch rivals they will cut the gap to United to four points with the two teams still to play each other.
But with Arsenal only managing to beat Leyton Orient and Blackpool in almost two months, Wenger knows they must ignore any thoughts of failure and go out to beat Spurs.
"We have not to go with any fear into that game," the Arsenal manager said. "We have to go with the desire to win and play. We will not stand at the back and wait for Spurs to play, we will try to play.
"It is a derby and it is a big game for us. It is a game where a lot is at stake and last year it was the same. Of course, it is a big test of character, and in my 15 years you go through a few.
"The time is very short to recover [from playing Liverpool]. It's important to recover very quickly.
"We always play good games against Spurs, and played very well in September in the Carling Cup. We will play our game, don't worry - we want to show we have the mental dimension to play for this club. The players want to show that and there is no better way to do that than against Spurs."
