Steven Gerrard has described Luis Suarez as a "midfielder's dream" and has tipped him to do for Liverpool what Carlos Tevez has done for Manchester City.

Liverpool swooped to bring Suarez to Anfield from Ajax in January and the Uruguayan has enjoyed a seamless transition to life in the Premier League.

Suarez tormented Fulham on Monday evening and he capped a superb display with a fine finish in Liverpool's 5-2 romp.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish was full of praise for Suarez and his captain Gerrard, who is currently sidelined following groin surgery, feels the forward has the potential to be a better player than Argentina international Tevez.

"He is a midfielder's dream," Gerrard told Sky Sports. "As soon as you look up he makes great movements and he gives you options all the time. But what is impressing me even more is when he hasn't got the ball, his tenacity and desire to win it back.

"It is natural you will compare him to Tevez because of his build, his shape, the way he plays but for me and what I've seen so far, I'm slightly biased because he is in my team, I think he can go on to be better.

"Suarez's movement, his touch, his vision, the way he took his goal is sensational. He is a joy to play with."

Dalglish said: "He was fantastic. He was running as hard at the end as he was at the very beginning and he caused them all sorts of problems.

"I don't think in our wildest dreams he could've settled in as quickly as he has done and taken to English football the way that he has done.

"He's graced the pitch every time he's played on it."
